I had a great day yesterday at the Shelburne Residence here in Shelburne. Without the help of Barb Burnley and Christine Downton of Shelburne Residence, I could not have achieved doing this. Quite a few of the Residents came out to have their pictures made. Music is courtesy of Matt Stanfield To download the music.

Now that the printing process has come to a close. I removed the images to give the participants their due privacy.

Update… Shelburne District Fire Dept Get Involved In Movember! Results

no comments

Well tonight was the night that all the Fire Fighters got back together to compare, brag and rib each other on their “staches”.
Last month I mentioned that some of the members of the Shelburne District Fire Department were getting involved in a fundraiser for Prostrate Cancer. See this blog article.

The total amount raised was $3340.00. With FF Oluf Jensen bringing in the most with $815.00! There were a total of 22 FF involved in the fundraiser. FF Kelly Elderfield is pointing at Capt Dave Hardick, who in her opinion won the “hottest stash contest”
The monies raised are being donated to researching Prostrate Cancer in Canada.

On December the 10th I will be getting involved in a movement called HELP-PORTRAIT where we, as photographers, give our time and resources for a day to those we feel are less fortunate or who may be alone this holiday season. I will be doing my part at Shelburne Residence here in Shelburne. Shelburne Residence will be hosting their annual Christmas dinner for residents and their families. I plan on making a portrait, or a family portrait, for all the residents who would like to have a memento of a time in their lives.
Please if you are a pro photographer, amateur photographer or hobbyist photographer GET INVOLVED! Even if you’re not a photographer you can do something to help those who are alone, or who are less fortunate. Please show you care by helping someone, with anything – any little thing, you will be glad you did!

Fathead In Studio Session For New CD Release

no comments

I was invited to go and photograph Fathead at Canterbury Music Company in Toronto. So yesterday I dropped in on the guys to see what is entailed in the making of a CD. When I opened the front door of the studio, I could hear them playing in one of Canterburys three studios down the hall. All I could think was man they were laying it down!! Let me tell you the tracks that they  cut, was some sweet soulful blues. I will be totally shocked if they do not come away with their third Juno for this CD.

I asked Al Lerman when the new CD should be released, he tells me January 2010 for worldwide distribution. So keep looking on their website for more information.

Again i’d like to thank Al, John, Bucky, Omar, Teddy  and producer/musician Lance Anderson for letting me sit in on this project. Thanks also go out to Jeremy from Canterbury Music Company for letting me get under foot, thanks Jeremy!

Hockley Valley Resort 14th Annual Charity Event

no comments

Yesterday Hockley Valley Resort held it’s 14th Annual Charity Event. Proceeds from the event will go to support Headwaters Health Care Centre, Megan’s Walk, Caritas, Sick Kids Foundation Children’s Circle of Care, and the Ontario Track 3 Ski Association.

The presenting sponsor of the event was Dean Orrico, Managing Director and Chief Investment Officer, of Middlefield Resource Funds. Other sponsors were: Marita Simbul-Lezon of RBC Dominion Securities, Sysco, CI Funds, Sentry Select, Pepsi Bottling, Labatt Breweries, Molson’s, and The UI Group, to name a few. They had a great day, both with the weather and time spent with over 250 guests in attendance.

Hockley Valley Resort is one of the top 100 resorts in Ontario. The golf course presents quite a challenge playing from the black tees even for a low handicapper. They have a beautiful spa for both women and men to relax in, and with two restaurants and a banquet kitchen, food was abundant everywhere throughout the resort. Dinner was a fabulous three course meal. If you have not had the chance yet to visit, I would highly recommend that you do as the hospitality is second to none!

Here are a few of the images from the days event. More images are on the website under Events.

New Fathead Promo Images

no comments

Al Lerman wanted some new images for press releases and fans taken. We were a little rushed with time as the guys were rehearsing that night, so we just went to a local spot for a couple of images. You can checkout Fathead’s website for upcoming shows, pictures or to book them for your event!

They will be going into the recording studio mid-September to record their new album to be released late fall or early winter. More images of them are on my website under People.[mbs slideshow=1]

Strawberry Fields Forever…

no comments

A month ago I was asked for some images of strawberries to run on the front cover of a magazine. Unfortunately, I did not have a stock image for them. So I set out looking for a local berry patch… Not a lot of strawberry fields in Dufferin County, but I remembered that Jenala Farms on County Rd. 11 just north of the 20th sideroad, have berry patches, both strawberries & raspberries. So I took a drive over to meet the owners, Ken & Faye Brett, Ken said “the berries are running late this year due to a cool spring”, so I was out of luck… “come back in a month and they will be ready”.

Well today I stopped in on my way home, and guess what?… they had berries!!! Tonnes and tonnes of berries. Ken and Faye were kind enough to let me rummage through the patch looking for a place to make an image or a few… After what I thought was a sufficient number of images to work with, I started to leave when I saw a family picking berries with this cute little girl with long blonde hair. Her fingers were drenched in red berry juice, so I asked her mom & dad if I could photograph the moment!

If you are looking for fresh ripe strawberries contact Jenala Farms @ (519) 925-5464 or, or better yet stop by. They produce asparagus, strawberries, raspberries and sweet corn.

Faye said that the “asparagus has just finished last week, but the raspberries will be ready in about 3 weeks, and they are looking great”.

Here is just a small sample of the images captured today, ENJOY…
